About IsItDownOrMe
IsItDownOrMe answers one question quickly and honestly: is a website down for everyone, or just for you? Instead of a single yes/no from one server, we test the site from four locations at once and show you exactly what each one saw.
How a check works
- You enter a domain. We normalise it and refuse private or internal addresses.
- Probes in Dallas, Washington DC, Frankfurt and Singapore resolve DNS, open a TLS connection and request the page (HEAD first, GET if needed), following up to 8 redirects.
- Each probe reports the HTTP status, response time, DNS time, TLS certificate expiry, redirect chain and resolved IPs.
- We combine the results into one verdict.
Verdicts
- UP — the site answered normally from (almost) everywhere.
- DEGRADED — some regions failed, or the median response time was over 3 seconds.
- DOWN — most regions could not get a response (DNS failure, connection refused, timeout, 5xx).
- RESTRICTED — the server answered with 401/403/429/451 everywhere. It is reachable but refuses automated or regional traffic; this is a policy, not an outage.
Monitored services
For popular services we run the same check every two minutes around the clock, store 90 days of history, and open an outage only after two consecutive failed rounds (closing it after two good ones). Visitors can add anonymous problem reports to each service page.
Limitations
We test from our own servers, not from your network. A site can be up for us and still unreachable for you because of your ISP, DNS, VPN or firewall — each result page lists what to try. Some CDNs deliberately hold or block automated requests; we label those cases instead of calling them outages. We are not affiliated with any of the sites we test.
